Just like we drew it up, the Caps have struck first in Game Two thanks to a goal by Jay Beagle with a primary assist by Brooks Orpik.
Obviously.

Weirdness from the start: Jay Beagle, in his first game back from injury, got a rare offensive-zone start to a shift. He lined up for the faceoff but was dismissed. Instead, Chandler Stephenson took and won the drop.
From there, known playmaker Brooks Orpik lined up the shot. Meanwhile, Alex Chiasson and Jay Beagle headed for the goal mouth. The puck found Beagle for a deflection. Bobrovsky didn’t stand a chance.
That’s the seventh playoff goal of Jay Beagle’s career. The Caps have a 41-1-5 regular-season record when Beagle scores a goal. We’ll see if that means anything.
