The Vegas Golden Knights and the Winnipeg Jets are not the most similar of teams: one a brash, upstart expansion team from the desert, the other finally starting to find its way after moving from Atlanta seven years ago.
However, heading into the start of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Wednesday, they had one important thing in common — neither franchise had won a playoff game. In fact, the teams were the only two without an NHL postseason victory.
That changed for both teams Wednesday night.
First, the Jets pulled out a 3-2 win over the Minnesota Wild behind Joe Morrow’s game-winning goal.

The current Jets franchise had been swept in its prior two playoff series, including once as the Atlanta Thrashers.

Tonight’s Jets win is the first postseason victory in Winnipeg since the team that is currently the Arizona Coyotes beat the Detroit Red Wings 3-1 in Game Six of the first round of the playoffs. (I know, this franchise stuff is confusing.)

Then, just a few hours later, the Knights held on to a one-goal lead for nearly 57 minutes to preserve a victory over the Los Angeles Kings by the slimmest of margins, 1-0.
