For The Win’s Hemal Jhaveri summed it up best after Sidney Crosby tallied his third career postseason hat trick, Wednesday night.
I have seen the future and it looks a lot like the past

The Pittsburgh Penguins, who are looking to three peat, were on another level in their 7-0 Game One win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
Crosby scored three consecutive even-strength goals in the second and third periods to seal the win for the Penguins.
9:01 into the second period, Sid scored his first goal, a mid-air backhanded deflection, which chased Brian Elliott from the net.
Petr Mrazek would fare no better as Crosby scored twice in a three-minute and one second span of the third period.
Crosby’s hat trick goal came on a deflection of a Brian Dumoulin point shot.
Career playoff hatty #3 for Sid. Done in natural fashion. 🚨🚨🚨 pic.twitter.com/euphIr5g9Y

All three of Crosby’s goals were scored near or in the high slot.
At this point Sid could write “THREE PEAT” on the ice in the blood of Flyers goalies and it would be less emphatic than this. #Flyers #Penguins #NHL

Evgeni Malkin also scored on this beautiful individual effort in the first period. After weaving through several Flyers defenders, Malkin backhanded the puck past Elliott to the far side of the net.
So the Penguins look pretty good out of the gate.
One down, three to go.
