Axel Jonsson-Fjällby scores game-winning playoff goal for Djurgården

Axel Jonsson-Fjällby’s impressive playoff performance continued on Thursday. Tied 1-1 in their postseason series with Linköping, Jonsson-Fjällby’s goal secured Djurgården a 4-3 win in Game Three.

Patrik Lundh set up Jonsson-Fjällby after Linköping failed to clear the puck from their zone. Jonsson-Fjällby took a no-look shot on net and scored.

AJF WTF.

Djurgården’s official Twitter account were pretty excited about the whole thing.

“GOAAAAAAAAAAAAL! Axel Jonsson Fjällby scores, 4-2 with a fabulous wrister. Pass from Peppe Lundh. Hovet enjoys a nice loud goal celebration. Hockey, man.”

The win came two days after the teams played a marathon game against each other on Tuesday. Linköping came out the eventual victor over five and a half periods of hockey. The game totalled just over 108 minutes, but missed out on being the longest game in Swedish hockey history by 10 minutes.

Djurgården and Linköping clash again on Saturday, March 24. Djurgården will no doubt be hoping that their “rocket man” helps lead them to victory once more.

Jonsson-Fjällby will reportedly sign an entry-level contract with the Capitals after the Djurgården’s postseason run ends.
