Former 13th overall pick Jakub Vrana, who wears jersey number 13, scored his 13th goal of the season Friday night against the Islanders. It was arguably the greatest goal of Jakub’s young NHL career.
The Sonic V took off down the ice with speed and rocketed the puck past Jaroslav Halak. The tally contributed to Vrana’s third star of the game.
Honestly, we’re all still a little speechless, because dang, Vrana is fast.

The play developed when Alex Chiasson cleared the puck out of the Capitals zone. Vrana took off like a shot, chasing the puck down. Eventually he caught up. Vrana chipped the puck to himself, angled to the front of the net, and buried the biscuit top shelf.
Put this one on repeat, because we’re never going to get enough of it.
😮
Vrana’s 13th goal ties him with Marcus Johansson for most goals by a Capitals rookie 2000-01.
This is impressive until you see what Ovi did in 2005-06 😂 pic.twitter.com/WXr613VXUJ

Vrana also utilized a similar power move to the net to assist on Alex Chiasson’s eighth goal of the season.
In total, the Capitals racked up 13 goals in their home and home series with the New York Islanders. Maybe 13 isn’t so unlucky after all?
