The NHL went all out to honor the men and women of the United States Navy.
Hours before puck drop at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, the NHL published aerial video showing an overhead view of the outdoor rink. According to the Maple Leafs, the rink was built atop a 35,760 square foot model “aircraft carrier” in the middle of the stadium.
The puck drops on the deck of the aircraft carrier at 8 p.m. EST on NBC, Hockey Night in Canada, TVAS.

There are also a lot of little details that make the homage fantastic.
First and foremost, they painted a realistic ocean overtop the floor boards. Then there’s the detail on the aircraft carrier itself, which includes an fake runway for an actual fighter jet.

On the boards there is a message of “Beware of jet blasts, propellers and flying pucks.”
