Tonight, the Blue Jackets and Capitals are at Nationwide Arena in Columbus to kick off their home-and-home series. Let’s hope we have Nationwide on our side (sorry)!
Anyway, the Capitals are shaking up their lines a bit and that’s actually a good thing. The Blue Jackets have lost four of their last five games. Both teams are lookin’ to lift their spirits with a win tonight and I hope it is the Capitals. I’m not biased or anything.
Puck drop will be at 7:00 PM. Watch the game on NBCSN and hangout with your recappin’ rockstar, Pat Holden.

Projected Lines
Do you feel that changing wind in the air? It’s the lineup because there have definitely been changes.
Ovechkin – Backstrom – Wilson
Vrana – Kuznetsov – Oshie
Connolly – Eller – Burakovsky
Stephenson – Beagle – DSP
Djoos – Carlson
Orlov – Niskanen
Orpik – Bowey
Holtby
This could also be a lie, Jesse from WaPo made sure to let y’all know that these might be false, so I’m sure twitter adapted well (lol). Liiiiitle disclaimer folks:
I’m not going to make any friends suggesting this (and I know I’m not the first) but it may be good for everyone’s well-being to wait until before the game to get too worked up about lines. Just my $.02 as a relative outsider.

But also Patrick makes an excellent point….
How else am I expected to heat up my lunch if not with scorching hot takes from Line Combo Twitter

Fixing TJ
Folks, I’m no coach or anything…but, I think I finally figured out what we gotta do to get TJ Oshie playing like a superstar again. We need to get God on his side.
NBC pays me to express my opinion. And it was my opinion that Nick Foles would play well because his Christian faith would allow him to to play with confidence. And that he’s a good QB. I think I was right on both counts. https://t.co/4HOfXt78UZ

Storylines
- Patrik Laine let everyone know that he would like to play PlayStation with Alex Ovechkin. Get in line, “Patrik.”
- Follow along with sweet RMNBer Cara as she continues her NHL Arena tour. Her recent stop? Smashville, baby.
- It’s going to be very exciting to watch the USA Olympic Men’s Hockey Team play in the upcoming games. But I’d like to remind everyone that it’s completely fine if you refer to them as the USA Olympic Chris Bourque Team because I do. Anyway, his sendoff from the Hershey Bears was super sweet and super patriotic.
- Nate Schmidt was being a cutie pie while he gushed about how he “loved his time” in DC. Nate, if you loved us so much, why don’t you just stay forever???
- “I don’t know what that call is anymore” –Philipp Grubauer about goalie interference. So nice to have someone on the team that just says exactly what we are all thinking.
- Huge update: Connor McDavid is still very good at hockey. Also, water is wet.
- Trade deadline rumors are always so much fun, so why not toss another one in the hat?! Apparently, Ryan McDonagh might be leavin’ the Big Apple soon and Rick Nash submitted his no-trade list. Speculate at your own peril.
Toad Reactions
Apparently, everyone is mad because Nintendo finally confirmed that the mushroom on Toad’s head is not a hat. It’s literally his head. I wish I cared as much, but we all know everyone should be playing with Yoshi or Boo anyway.
