For the second year in a row, Alex Ovechkin tallied a goal and an assist at the All-Star Game. And for the second year in a row, he assisted on a Sidney Crosby goal while the two superstars played on the same line.
The only difference was that the Caps’ Barry Trotz was the coach instead of Wayne Gretzky.

Crosby opened the game’s scoring, giving the Metropolitan Division All-Stars a 1-0 lead.
After Ovechkin skated the puck into the zone and curled at the right circle, he found Crosby, the trailer, with a pass as he skated into the zone. Crosby beat Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy on the blocker side for the goal.

Riding a Nikita Kucherov hat trick, the Atlantic Division would win 7-4, eliminating the defending champion Metro All-Stars in the first round.
After the game Ovechkin and Crosby complimented each other.
Ovechkin on playing with Crosby: “It was fun. We only had a couple shifts. I tried to do my best. Maybe next All-Star Game we’ll work more in warmups to get ready.” -SK

Crosby on Ovechkin: "He’s a pretty easy guy to play with. As soon as you get over the blue line you look for him. I had a great view of the goal he scored. There was basically no room there. I don’t know how he gets around the Dman. He makes it look pretty easy." -SK
