Caps fans who attended the team’s game at Capital One Arena Friday night had a special opportunity for a purchasing first. Two days after the team officially revealed its Stadium Series jersey designs, the Caps Team Store put the new sweaters up for sale.
Longtime reader and Caps fan Kate Jamison snatched up one of the outdoor game jerseys customized with Alex Ovechkin on the back. According to Jamison, the team only had about 20 Ovechkin and Backstrom Stadium Series jerseys up for sale, but a team store employee believed more players would be available by Sunday’s game.

According to Jamison, the Ovi and Backy jerseys sold for $189 at Capital One Arena. Twitter user @CALSGR8 shared the following photos from inside.
Meanwhile, the NHL.com shop also began selling the new sweaters online today.
If you have noticed the jersey on sale anywhere else, let us know in the comments.
