If none of us mention the game that took place last night against the Isl*nd*rs, then it’s basically like it never happened.
Moving right along, the Capitals have a chance to redeem themselves back home against the…kinda ok Avalanche? The Avs are coming off a 2-1 road win against the Penguins and a 7-3 road victory over the Panthers. Not to mention, the last time the Avs saddled up against the Capitals, they won 6-2. That was bad.
Alas, the Capitals are still missing TJ Oshie and yesterday simply seemed like an off day. Hopefully, the good boys will turn it around tonight.
The game starts at 7 PM. Watch on NBCSWA and Pat will have a recap for you.

On this Day
Here’s something that was super fun and happened on this day in 2008 for the Capitals:
On this date in 2008, #Caps web producer Brett Leonhardt suited up as an emergency backup.
— Jen (@NHLhistorygirl) December 12, 2017
He ended up suiting up a second time after the Capitals goaltender at the time, Michal Neuvirth, injured his leg during warm-ups in 2013. Not only did he suit up for the game, but he also made sure to take care of his video work too.
Storylines
- Brian MacLellan is currently meeting with Caps goaltending prospect Ilya Samsonov in Russia. HMMMM.
- God Bless Dylan Larkin and his ability to embrace something embarrassing from his past.
- Listen, ice is a tricky substance. During my own personal research, I have found that sometimes it is slippery and you might fall. Alexander Radulov had some firsthand experience, with the falling portion, the other day…but still scored a goal. I just got bruises.
- We can all pretend like last night never happened, but I do want to bring up the only bright spot of the evening. No, not my new Star Wars mug, but instead Dmitry Orlov‘s goal! He’s now on a four-game scoring streak.
- John Carlson‘s little one is going to be a goalie soon. Look out.
