The Washington Capitals had a GOAL EXPLOSION 🚨 in the first period against the Chicago Blackhawks. Every player from the team’s first line — Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Tom Wilson — scored against Blackhawks goaltender Anton Forsberg.
They did this all in an amazing three-minute and 28-second span.

Backstrom started the scoring after the first line executed a beautiful set play. Wilson hit Ovechkin who then tapped a pass to Backstrom for a one-timer. Tic-tac-toe.
Backstrom’s tally snapped a person 21-game goal drought – the second-longest goalless streak of his career.

On the first line’s very next shift, they scored again. Off a face-off win, Wilson took a slick pass from Christian Djoos and then sent a blind shot on net that found Forsberg’s five hole.
Yup. What Pierre said.
Pierre McGuire on Tom Wilson's goal: "That has all kinds of odor on it."

Finally, Alex Ovechkin scored his league-leading 21st goal, cleaning up a rebound off a Tom Wilson breakaway.
That gave the Caps two goals in a ridiculous 29-second span. Forsberg was immediately pulled after this goal.

Wilson finished the period with three points (1 goal, 2 assists) while Backstrom and Ovechkin both had a goal and an assist.
Tom Wilson has a goal and two assists, his second-career game with at least three points. His last came on Jan. 13, 2017, also against the Chicago Blackhawks (1g, 2a).
