The Caps have strung a couple wins together and are hoping to make it three one on the road tonight in Toronto. Both teams played on Friday night, so it might be a bit sluggish out there – and that’s not even counting Roman Polak in the lineup.
The game starts at 7 PM on National Biscuit Company Sports Division Washington Bureau Double Plus Good. (Seriously, it’s on NBCSWA+ and the plus part is important.) Chris from the Comments has your recap. Let’s go Caps.

Storylines
- Philipp Grubauer earned his first win of the season last night with his parents in attendance. Today he turns 26.

- Alex Ovechkin has tied Isles legend Mike Bossy in goals. 😏😏
- Brett Connolly tried to cheat.
- The Leafs are also on a back-to-back. They beat the Canes last night, but they got massively outplayed during 5-on-5, 73 attempts to 32.
- Because the Leafs had a game last night, we don’t know much about their lineup either, however, what we do know is good.
Based on #Leafs optional skate participants, I would guess Roman Polak, Matt Martin and Dominic Moore will all play tonight vs. Capitals. Leivo, Sosh and Carrick all skating.

- Ex-Caps forward Brooks Laich was placed on waivers yesterday by the Kings. He was unclaimed and cleared waivers today.
Laich’s Numbers
Hoo boy. The Kings saw 42.7 percent of shot attempts when Laich was on the ice, a 7.7 point drop from when he was on the bench. In 12 games, Laich had zero goals on 10 shots on net, and he recorded no primary assists. Thought he did get a secondary on rookie Oscar Fantenberg’s goal against the Bolts.
So then here’s a montage of every Laich highlight from this season.
You may have noticed that Laich does not appear in this clip. Yes.
Final note: Laich’s on-ice shot-attempt percentage (42.7) is actually higher than what the Caps see when Orpik and Ovechkin are on together (41.2).
