After scoring 29 goals last season, Brent Burns finally scores first goal in 21st game

It finally happened.

After going goalless in the first 20 games of the season, San Jose Sharks defenseman Brent Burns scored in game number 21. Burns found the back of the net in Las Vegas after a slap shot from the point found its way to the back of the net.

After a face-off win, Burns received the puck on the blue line and let go one of his lethal slapshots.

The shot hit off Golden Knights forward Brendan Leipsic for a fortunate redirect to beat goaltender Maxime Lagace glove side.

Before the game today, Burns led the league in shots on goal without scoring (84). According to The Hockey News, that stat is even worse when you consider Burns hasn’t gone a single game without registering a shot on goal this season.

The Sharks brought some sass to their Twitter after the goal.

I haven’t tweeted them about it, but my fantasy team is very thankful.

Last year during Burns’ Norris Trophy winning season, he scored in the Sharks first game of the regular season. Go figure.
