Well that was quick.
Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom were reunited in a surprise move by Barry Trotz before the game. So of course in the first period, Backstrom assisted (secondary) on an Ovechkin goal.

After being sprung by Alex Chiasson, the Russian machine scored on the breakaway, beating Craig Anderson between the catching glove and pad.
Backstrom gave Ovi a big hug afterwards.
Ovechkin’s goal is his 14th on the season and the 572nd of his career. It gave the Capitals a 2-0 lead going into intermission.
