Hockey players are stupid tough, and here’s another example.
During the New York Rangers-Edmonton Oilers game this afternoon, Jimmy Vesey got kicked in the face and his teeth got lodged into his lip.
He later returned to the game because he is an insane person.
The injury occurred in the second period when Vesey and Oilers forward Zack Kassian collided. While falling, Kassian’s skate kicked Vesey in the mouth.
Vesey somehow got up on his own and skated to the Rangers bench while bleeding.
The Rangers forward was looked over on the bench before leaving for the remainder of the second period.
Kassian, known for playing rough, showed concern for Vesey while on the ice and later waited on the Oilers bench.
After leaving the Rangers bench, Vesey had x-rays taken. The photos revealed that at least one of his front teeth was stuck in his bottom lip.

This merely inconvenient injury didn’t stop Vesey from returning though, as he took the ice at the beginning of the third period with a full face mask on. His teeth were still in his lip (!!!)
During the period, it appears he told Mika Zibanejad what happened. Zibanejad’s reaction is perfect.
Vesey played seven shifts in the third period totaling 5 minutes and 20 seconds.
“He’s got a couple teeth right now in his lip,” Rangers head coach Alain Vigneault said during his post-game press conference. “They’re going to find a way to take them out. Hockey will be hockey, eh?”
Yeah, guess so.
