Tuesday morning the Capitals announced that they have recalled forward Chandler Stephenson from AHL Hershey. To make room for the call-up, the team also placed Andre Burakovsky on injured reserve. Burakovsky missed practice on Monday with what the team called an “upper body injury” after getting hooked in the left hand during Saturday’s game verses the Panthers.
Yesterday it was reported by coach Barry Trotz that Burakovsky “might miss some time” due to the injury and was undecided if he would go on the Caps’ upcoming Western Canada road trip, but this move all but confirms that he will be staying in DC.
Trotz says Burakovsky might miss some time. Undecided if he will go on the road trip.

This newest injury brings the team down two of their regular forwards, with both Tyler Graovac and Burakovsky out, as well as top defenseman Matt Niskanen.

In addition, Stephenson tallied five points (3g, 2a) in nine playoff games with the Bears last season and has recorded 16 points (5g, 11a) in 36 career AHL postseason games.
