Christian Djoos is starting to become popular among fans, but there might be someone on the Capitals bench who’s feeling the Djoos more.
Djoos’ former defense partner in Hershey Madison Bowey, gave the Swedish defenseman a congratulatory back massage after Djoos scored his second career goal. Bowey couldn’t keep the smile off his face as he looked up at the highlights on the jumbotron.
As Craig Laughlin said Saturday night, Djoos’ second period tally was a “goal-scorer’s goal.” His celly was also superstar-esque.
After spending two years together with the Hershey Bears in the AHL, Djoos and Bowey are now going through the ups and downs of their rookie seasons in the pros together.
Djoos, a former seventh round pick, is defying the odds by playing in the NHL. So far, he is also the only defenseman to score a goal for the Capitals this season, and he’s done so twice.
