The Capitals traveled to the newly opened Little Caesar’s Arena, “The Pie” if you’re RMNB’s Pat Holden, to play the Detroit Red Wings. Mike Green and company came into the game on a losing streak just like the Caps. I deem this the battle of the early season losing streaks. Only one streak shall last.
The teams started the night with some failed power play opportunities and good goaltending. We were scoreless through twenty.
Darren Helm opened scoring with a shorthanded marker early in the second. Andre Burakovsky heard your complaints; he knotted this one back up at one. 1-1 after two periods.
Jay Beagle scored shorthanded in his 400th career NHL game. That’s a lot of games. Congrats, Jay. Tomas Tatar spoiled things with a ridiculous tip-in to tie the game at two and then scored again to give the Red Wings a 3-2 lead. Timothy Jimothy Oshbabe tied this bad boy up at three late to force OT, then Ovechkin won it in overtime!
Caps beat Red Wings 4-3 in overtime!
- We had a case of #TopLineTom on our hands. I thought that the Caps rugged forward did reasonably well playing next to TJ Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom. Lets hope some more points will come. In the meantime isn’t he just dreamy?

- Nothing happened in the first period, it’s a Friday night, and no one is watching. Sooooo… Team RMNB assembled country songs that we feel are overtly campy. So picture boots, tractors, cold beer, red trucks, and dirt roads. Put your own submissions in the comments. Here are some of ours:
- Oh yeah, a game happened. The Capitals have already allowed three shorthanded goals to start the season. That needs to stop.
- Also if you have a child and are willing, post your photos of you “Lion-Kinging” them like these folks at a Coyotes game.
- Petr Mrazek has finally allowed an Alex Ovechkin goal. This is particularly notable because it seems like Ovechkin has shot the puck at Mrazek approximately nine million times before his overtime winner.
- Lindsey is a greenseer. She KNEW who would scoar those goals.
Guys. Guys, @lindseyclarke knew. She. Knew. #CapsWings #ALLCAPS pic.twitter.com/6HBUll7feM

- Andre Burakovsky finally scored. That alone is worth a bullet.
- Oshie took a high stick in the first period and bled his own blood. Not the face… come on Wings.
Joe B suit of the night
We’ll be right here tomorrow for a match up with the Panthers. Yee-haw.
