The Vegas Golden Knights’ new mascot is Chance and you should stop being rude to him

Friday night, the Vegas Golden Knights faced off at home against the Detriot Red Wings and unveiled their brand new mascot. His name is Chance, he is a Gila monster, and I strongly believe that he is not being given enough love.

You see, according to the San Diego zoo, Gila monsters have the worst reputations in the reptile world and they are often described as “frightful” and “repulsive”. Gila monsters have been accused of spitting venom, leaping several feet in the air to attack, stinging with its tongue, and killing people with its poisonous breath.

Yes, Gila monsters are venomous, but they actually tend to stay away from humans. They like to be alone and hang with themselves. Their best company is themselves.

After some independent research was conducted by the Vegas Golden Knights, they learned that Chance is a rare Gila monster and he became energized after he heard there would be a hockey team in Las Vegas. An excerpt from the official record states:

Chance emerged from his underground burrow at Red Rock Canyon and made his way to City National Arena in Summerlin to see what all the excitement was about. Once Chance arrived, he learned how welcoming the hockey community is. Despite being shy and not knowing anyone at the rink, he was invited to come onto the ice and skate. Like many newcomers to the sport, he fell in love with hockey and the Golden Knights.

Chance made friends and found confidence! He has decided to regularly attend hockey games instead of live alone in seclusion and he can also be spotted at local charitable initiatives, youth hockey events, other community activities, and at local hospitals (not because he bit someone). Breeding season for the Gila monsters isn’t even until the summertime, so Chance has a completely free schedule!

All I’m saying is that I think everyone should give Chance a chance. He’s been alone and simply wants to make new friends.
