In the wee hours of Friday morning, the Washington Nationals lost 9-8 to the Chicago Cubs, continuing a mind-boggling streak of futility for local sports teams.
None of the big four sport teams have won or made a conference final appearance since 1998 – a streak of 69 (nice) consecutive seasons. It is the longest active streak in all of sports.
To honor this terrible moment, we made a new shirt dedicated to our stupid, stupid city’s bad sports luck.
The text on the underline reads FOREVER CURSED SINCE 1998.
Now if your team(s) continue to break your heart in the postseason, you can have a sarcastic shirt to play off how much you’re actually dying inside.
A limited edition non-DC version of the “SPORPS” design in 2″ enamel pin form is also available for pre-order in Rachel’s etsy shop.
