Bruno Mars, wearing a Capitals jersey, takes photo with former First Lady Michelle Obama at Capital One Arena concert

The Washington Capitals might be having a disaster preseason, but their promotion game is on point.

Saturday night before performing, Bruno Mars, wearing a Washington Capitals #24 jersey, posed with former First Lady Michelle Obama in the bowels of Verizon Center. The Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg was the first to report the photos.

The number 24 jersey Bruno Mars is wearing is a reference to his 24K Magic World Tour. It’s the the third headlining concert tour of Mars’ career and it’s in support of his album 24K Magic.

The tour began March 28, 2017, at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, and will conclude at Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur on May 9, 2018.

Ten days ago, Ed Sheeran also sported a Capitals jersey during his second concert in as many nights in DC.

Days later, Sheeran wore a Red Wings jersey on stage in Detroit, which gives you a good idea of how genuine the gesture is.

RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHLPA, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
