Wednesday evening the Capitals revealed the complete schedule and roster for their 2017 Training Camp. Even though players have been informally skating at Kettler the last few weeks, things will officially kick off on Friday September 15th, with every player, coach, and front office member available to speak to reporters for Media Day.
While fans are looking forward to the official return of fan favorites such as Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and Braden Holtby, it will also be the first real look the Caps organization and community gets at new acquisitions Devante Smith-Pelly and Tyler Graovac, as well as training camp invitees Jyrki Jokipakka and Alex Chiasson.

The initial roster lists 65 players which includes 40 forwards,18 defensemen, and 7 goaltenders. The group will be broken up into three squads (Red, White, Blue) for scheduled practices. The roster must be trimmed to 23 players by October 3.
Training Camp will run for 20 days leading up to the NHL regular season, which begins October 4. The Caps will start their 2017-18 season with an away game against the Ottawa Senators one day later on October 5. Their home opener is Saturday October 7 versus the Montreal Canadiens.
The full training camp schedule can be viewed here. All on-ice activities are open to the public at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, VA.
