The NHL released a fantastic montage of the weirdest plays of the 2016-17 season over the weekend.
Several crazy Capitals sequences made the cut, and, unlike the Colorado Avalanche’s disaster breakaway, they were impressive feats of good hockey. Let’s review!
Anything can happen out there. What was the craziest play of 2016-17?

What was called a highlight-reel goal back in February actually made a highlight reel in July. TJ Oshie scored his 20th goal of the season at home while also exploding Peter Budaj’s water bottle. The one-timer, that slid through the top corner of the goal, hit Budaj’s bottle at a perfect angle and popped that danged lid right off.
Tom Wilson had an incredible series against the Maple Leafs during round one. Nothing that follows in his career may ever beat his game-changing shift in Game Four. After diving to stop a puck from dribbling past Braden Holtby, Wilson then redirected a Lars Eller shot to the back of the net.
Dmitry Orlov has had a lot of great hits, but his flipping Matt Duchene was a jaw-dropping feat of strength and balance. This is the NHL’s best hit of the season and, I guess, calling it “crazy” works too.
