Saturday, Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin celebrated his bachelor party with an entourage that included the newly re-signed Dmitry Orlov. The same day, Nastya Ovechkina went out with her closest friends, including Orlov’s wife Varvara Orlova, to celebrate her bachelorette party.
Ovechkina, of course, was thrilled, when she saw the decorations: cartoon sheep made of flowers.

The video combines Orlova’s pre-party setup shot, and Nastya’s reaction during the event itself. As Orlova’s video shows, the decorations included three sheep-themed flower arrangements, plus a gigantic ewe with flowers in her hair and a flowing bridal veil.
“There are all my beloved girls, who gave be this surprise for my bachelorette party!” narrates Ovechkina as she pans across the table.
There also were sheep cupcakes and a sheep cake. The sheep had hockey sticks in their mouths.

As RMNB has noted earlier, Alex Ovechkin’s last name is derived from the Russian word for sheep (овца, “ovtsa”), so the sheep-themed decor is a play on words. The pun is particularly fitting for the Ovechkins’ marriage celebration, since the actual word “Ovechkin” is a possessive form of the diminutive word for ewe (овечка, “ovechka”).
Oh, and by the way, more than one RMNB contributor has had their own artistic take on this particular pun. It is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
