Caps PA announcer Wes Johnson stars in new McDonald’s commercial with Wizards superstar John Wall

Imagine having a professional announcer narrate your life as you perform mundane tasks such as ordering food.

McDonald’s made this scenario a reality in their newest commercial putting Wizards point guard John Wall and Capitals PA announcer Wes Johnson together. Filmed last week, Wall orders a Big Mac using McDonald’s new mobile ordering app while Johnson excitedly does the play-by-play.

That’s a lot of yelling.

“Wes, do you get this excited about everything?” Wall asks after he receives his order.

“Just McDonald’s, John. Just McDonald’s,” Wes replies.

Johnson, a Verizon Center fixture since 2000, was the Wizards first-ever PA announcer. An accomplished voice-over artist and actor, Johnson has also starred in a national VISA commercial with Ray Lewis.

“I never thought I’d be driving the lane with John Wall,” Johnson said to me in an interview. “But since it was me and not Wes Johnson from the Clippers, a McDonald’s lane makes more sense. He was a blast to work with.”

Wall clearly agreed, calling Johnson, “My guy,” to his 1.79 million followers.

Wall also gave Johnson a signed gift with a special, joking inscription.

“To Wes, get out of my car,” the autographed basketball reads.

S/T to The Washington Post’s Scott Allen for posting the video.
