After arriving home in Sweden this week, Andre Burakovsky is re-embracing his Swedish roots.
Burakovsky has always been a vocal supporter of his hometown soccer team and Sunday he spent his day at the pitch. (That’s how I imagine Europeans would say it.)

Burakovsky’s hometown team, Malmö FF, are the reigning Swedish league champions and the most successful team in Sweden. On Sunday, they played a match against IFK Norrköping who are not slackers themselves. Norrköping has won 13 Swedish league championship titles, most recently in 2015. This year, Malmö and Norrköping are first and second in the league.
Unfortunately for Burakovsky, Norrköping won the game. It was Malmö’s first loss of the season.
He still seemed to have a great day, posting a video on his Instagram story.
“Had time!!!” Burakovsky wrote in Swedish, which we can only assume he means he had a good time at the game.
In the evening, Burakovsky watched his teammate Nicklas Backstrom and the rest of the Tre Kronor crew defeat Canada in the shootout to win the 2017 World Championship.
Stort grattis till guldet Sverige 😃😃🏆🏆

“Congratulations on the gold, Sweden 😃😃🏆🏆,” Burakovsky said.
