As the Capitals try to go somewhere they’ve never gone before in the Ovechkin era (the third round), the team is getting support from some unlikely but awesome sources.
Former Redskins quarterback and Super Bowl XXVI MVP Mark Rypien was at Verizon Center for Game Five of the Capitals-Penguins second round series. Meanwhile, current Redskins stars Kirk Cousins and Josh Norman rooted on the team on social media.

PA announcer Wes Johnson introduced Rypien during a break in play early in the game. Sitting in the lower bowl, Rypien urged fans to get to their feet and cheer, showing off his massive Super Bowl ring in the process.
Rypien also posed for photos with fans during and after the game.

During the third period, an emotionally invested Cousins urged the team to comeback and win.
C'mon Caps, we can do this!#LetsGoCaps

Meanwhile, Norman seemed blown away by Ovechkin’s tally, which put the Caps up 4-2.
