Referee gives himself badonkadonk after Bruins fan throws beach ball on ice

For those of you who were glued to your TV watching the Caps beat the Leafs, you missed one of the weirdest moments of the 2017 NHL playoffs during the Bruins-Senators game.

With two minutes remaining in the second period, a Bruins fan threw a beach ball on the ice. I don’t know why and I don’t know how the inanimate object made it over the netting.

All I know is that official Brad Meier picked up the beach ball up and the moment that followed was magical.

Meier, to avoid calling the play dead, stuck the beach ball up the back of his shirt. I love his quick thinking here.

The beach ball stayed under his shirt for a bit, officially giving Meier the largest tushy in NHL officiating history. But seconds later, it fell out. I’m guessing this is because the beach ball was trying to fly past Tuukka Rask and go back to its home inside the Bruins net. HEYYYY OOOOOH.

David Pastrnak had some fun and tried to throw the ball back over the glass with his stick.

The beach ball eventually made it’s way back to the crowd, who continued to throw it around until it fell into the hands of the Bruins ice crew who quickly deflated the fun.

Oh well, back to playoff hockey.
