Caps fans are not handling the team’s Game Three loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs well (more on that later). The Capitals are now trailing in their first-round series to the eighth-seeded Leafs and the Washington Post Express has seized upon this terrible moment in time for the fanbase.
Using Edvard Munch’s The Scream, an Express designer superimposed a Caps jersey over the tortured human featured in the painting. The caption? It’s even more depressing.
“Again?! Entering Game 4 in Toronto tonight facing a 2-1 deficit and a crushing history of playoff collapses, the Capitals are at a crossroads: Will they be champs or chokers?”
Take a closer look for yourself.

This is a big departure from last season’s imagery when Express published this cover.
Welcome to doomsday, you guys.
