Wednesday after the team’s morning skate, Capitals defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk was asked about the team’s struggles putting the puck in the back of the net. The Caps have only scored five goals at even strength on 198 shot attempts. They trail the Maple Leafs 2-1 in the series.
Shattenkirk stressed patience heading into Game Four and he made this metaphor. It’s a doozy.
Shattenkirk on patience vs. #Leafs speed: "We need to let the one-on-ones happen. We’re getting a little too (pause) horny getting in there"

Maybe a better word would have been “exciteable” or “impatient.” But for a guy who’s nicknamed Shatty and Twitter handle is @ShattDeuces, I think this perfectly falls in line with his normal vocabulary.
