President Donald Trump declined the Washington Nationals’ invitation to throw out the first pitch Monday due to a meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi of Egypt. In hindsight, he may be happy about that decision.
After the Nationals 4-2 victory over the Miami Marlins (where Bryce Harper hit his fifth Opening Day dinger), protestors unfurled a giant “Impeach Trump #Resist” sign over a walkway in the second deck of the outfield.

This is the second time in a month that protestors have unfurled a prominent Resist sign. Greenpeace activists also climbed a crane in January to unfurl a sign that sat directly behind The White House. The protestors were later arrested for trespassing.
According to CNN, Trump was a very good baseball player during his childhood.
Trump, according to a number of accounts of his childhood and time at the New York Military Academy, was a standout baseball player whose solid arm, power at the plate and long frame made him a model first basemen.
Col. Ted Dobias, who was Trump’s baseball coach, said the young Trump was a “good-hit and good-field” who in his senior year was scouted by the Philadelphia Phillies.
Dobias, who passed away in 2016 at age 90 during his former first baseman’s presidential run, told Rolling Stone that Trump decided against pursuing a baseball career because he “wanted to go to college and make real money.”
According to the Washington Post, the last time Trump threw out a first pitch was back in 2004 for the Somerset Patriots, a professional baseball team based in Bridgewater Township, NJ. Trump landed his helicopter in center field.
In other Opening Day news, the Capitals’ Bob McDonald sung God Bless America along with the Army Chorus during the game.

At the Baltimore Orioles’ home opener, Governor (and cancer survivor) Larry Hogan made an appearance at Camden Yards before the O’s game against the Blue Jays.
