Tuesday night Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin scored his 17th career hat trick during the Caps’ 5-4 OT victory against the Minnesota Wild. With an abundance of Caps fans in attendance, a plethora of hats were tossed to the ice. Wednesday morning, the Capitals’ owner Ted Leonsis took to Twitter to make an announcement.
If you were in Minny last night and tossed your cap. I will send you a replacement. I do this every year it seems. https://t.co/ZOyWwwWLaY

If you left the Xcel Energy Center with a chillier head than you came, Ted will replace your hat.
This is not the first time Mr. Leonsis has offered to headgear of traveling Caps fans. Leonsis offered to replace the hats thrown on the ice when Ovi scored a hat trick in Minnesota in February 2016. One fan responded to Ted, and received the message “I shall replace your Caps hat, thank you for honoring Alex on the road, very classy.”

We hope some of the folks who threw their hat on the ice last night also take Ted up on his offer and send him a message on Twitter!
