This brilliant hockey photo gets five minutes for perfect timing

The Washington Capitals defeated the Arizona Coyotes 4-1 at Verizon Center Saturday night. Late in the game there were several chippy moments, including this fracas brilliantly captured by RMNB reader Jess Jensen.

There is so much to unpack here.

  • We’ve got Brett Connolly executing a brilliant side headlock on a Coyotes player.
  • Swedish teen model Andre Burakovsky is getting manhandled and pulled downward by the collar of his jersey.
  • While the players are passionately trying to injure each other, the referee on the right looks on like this is no big deal. Nope. Not at all.
  • Finally, a Caps fan in the front row is flipping the bird — right square in the eyes — to an Arizona player.

Next time someone asks me why I love hockey, I’ll just show them this photo.
