The Capitals are kicking off their west coast road trip tonight against the San Jose Sharks.

Bad news bears, the Sharks are pretty good against the Capitals, who are 2-8-2 vs. San Jose in their last 12 meetings. So, I don’t want to say the Caps will probably lose this one…but the Caps will probably lose this one.

Get your nap in early because puck drop is at 10:30 PM on CSN.

Team Record SA% PDO Power Play Penalty Kill
    Washington Capitals 44-14-7 52.5% 103.5 21.6% (7th) 85.0% (5th)
    San Jose Sharks 39-19-7 52.1% 100.6 16.7% (23rd) 81.0% (15th)

    Projected Lines

No changes in the lineup and Andre Burakovsky didn’t travel with the team 🙁

    Ovechkin – Backstrom – Oshie
    Johansson – Kuznetsov – Williams
    Connolly – Eller – Vrana
    Winnik – Beagle – Wilson

    Alzner – Carlson
    Orlov – Niskanen
    Orpik – Shattenkirk

    Holtby

    The Washington Football Team

It is on fire. That’s all I’m going to say.

    Storylines

    • The NHL is apparently going to keep who teams protect for the upcoming expansion draft a secret because that is so much fun.
    • Will we see Nate Schmidt taking some ice time during the Caps’ west coast trip?! Maybe.
    • There was some true puppy pandemonium in the Winnik household this week.
    • James Corden doesn’t know how to say “Maryland” which is absolutely ridiculous.
    • Troy Brouwer will never escape the Brouwer Rangers.
    • Evgeni Malkin trying to fight Blake Wheeler is a sight to see.
    • Karl Alzner has trouble opening jars after blocking too many shots throughout his career.
    • Wanna be a star for the Washington Nationals? Now you can!
    • People are still committing egregious jersey fouls.
    • The Capitals signed two new NCAA free agents and their names are 100% made up.
    • The girl that voices Moana is possibly a Caps fan!
    • “The Hockey News” posted their top 100 prospects list and the Capitals have four of them 🙂
    • The number one spot for power play assists per 60 since the 2012-13 season? That would be Nick Backstrom.
    • Grab your tissues, the Calgary Flames did something really cool to help an 11-year-old eye cancer survivor see her first game.

    Late Night Games

Get your nap on, drink some coffee, move around during intermission because we are staying up ALL NIGHT LONG.
