Alex Ovechkin realizes dream, spends his Friday night delivering pizzas

Looks like Alex Ovechkin is finally realizing his childhood dream. Ovi took some time today to personally make and deliver some Ovechkin Wish Specials from Papa John’s.

First, he stopped by the Papa John’s in Sterling, Virginia to work an afternoon shift and make some pizzas.

He put on a proper uniform and everything.

Then Ovi embarked on his pizza delivery journey. The Ovi Mobile even had a pizza deliver sign on the top.

For their first delivery, Ovi arrives and immediately shocks the fans who open the door.

As the fans freak out, Ovi calmly asks for their signature on the receipt. One of the men asks “Ovi, what, are you a driver for Paper Johns now?” Ovi replies, “Yeah, nothing to do, it’s boring.”

Yeah, we’re sure that being practically unstoppable as the top team in the NHL is really boring.

Ovi and crew strike out with a baby sitter who doesn’t “do sports” on the second delivery.

During the final stop, Ovi delivers pizzas to a flustered family of fans with one child who had lost a tooth only five minutes before, and another in an adorable tiny Caps jersey.

Ovechkin’s new gig as a delivery guy is the result of his multi-year endorsement deal with Papa John’s. Throughout the partnership, Ovechkin has helped Papa John’s raise over $36,000 for the Mid-Atlantic chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

In December, RMNB got to go behind the scenes of the making of Ovi’s first commercial for Papa John’s, where we first learned about Ovi’s pizza-filled boyhood dreams (and helped raise money for charity).

While it’s really cool and all that Ovi delivered pizza to some fans, we also learned that Ovi’s favorite pizza includes ham, mushrooms, pineapples, and tomatoes. All on one pizza. That’s gross.

While being one of the greatest hockey players of all time would be more than enough for most people, we hope that today (and winning something else in June) finally makes Ovi feel complete.
