In the early 1990’s the Capitals released Capital Cuisine, a cookbook of recipes compiled by the team’s players and staff. Last March, the Capitals once again announced that they were putting together Cooking With the Caps, another cookbook compiled by the team’s players, coaches, staff, and the team caterer.
Unforeseen circumstances caused said cookbook to be put on hiatus, with an unknown return time. Monday afternoon the Caps announced that the Cooking With The Caps cookbook is finally ready to be released! The books will debut at the Verizon Center on Saturday March 4, with all the proceeds benefiting DC Central Kitchen.
Here’s a few examples from the new cookbook:

The cookbooks will also available at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and online beginning March 4. They will cost $25.
Cooking with the Caps, a Washington Capitals Cookbook presented by SuperFd Catering, will be available for purchase beginning Saturday, March 4. One hundred percent of the proceeds benefit DC Central Kitchen.
Sold through Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation, the cookbook will be available for sale online at WashCaps.com and MonumentalFoundation.org.
It will be available at the Team Store at Kettler Capitals Iceplex and at the MSE Foundation table and at the Team Store at Verizon Center during Caps home games beginning March 4 when the Capitals host the Philadelphia Flyers.
The cookbook features recipes from the 2016-17 Capitals roster, coaches and staff, along with the team’s official caterers, SuperFd. Tips are provided throughout the book from SuperFd chef Robbie Wood, Capitals’ strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish, nutritionist Sue Saunders and mascot Slapshot.
There are a limited number of Cooking with the Caps cookbooks available and each will cost $25 with all proceeds benefiting DC Central Kitchen.
In conjunction with the book’s publication, SuperFd is selecting four recipes from Cooking with the Caps for the “Cook the Book” challenge. Beginning Monday, March 6, one recipe will be announced each Monday on the SuperFd social media accounts for fans to recreate. Fans are asked to upload a photo of their dish to Instagram and tag it using the #CapsCookbook hashtag. The winning photo will be shared on SuperFd’s Instagram page along with the next recipe for the challenge the following Monday. The winner will have the chance to redeem their current cookbook for an autographed copy by a Caps player. Prizes can be redeemed at the SuperFd Cafe at Kettler Iceplex.
In addition a total of ten redeemable tickets will be placed randomly in cookbooks sold. The person who purchases a cookbook and has the ticket can redeem it for signed copy by a Caps player. Prizes can be redeemed at the SuperFd Cafe at Kettler Iceplex.
