The Washington Capitals are getting some free promotion from an unlikely source.
Wednesday night, current Law & Order SVU star Mariska Hargitay (Detective Benson) surprised fans when she posted a photo with her former co-star Christopher Meloni (Detective Stabler).
“And then that happened… Just when I thought Valentine’s Day was over,” Hargitay wrote.

In the photo, Meloni kisses Hargitay on the cheek while wearing a 2016 Capitals playoff hat. According to E! Online, the post received close to 35,000 likes in its first 45 minutes. The photo came hours before the latest new episode of SVU, which focused on a hazing incident with a hockey team called the “White Caps.”
The two actors spent 12 seasons together on the wildly popular NBC show before Meloni left the show before season 13.
This isn’t the first time Meloni has repped the Caps. The 55-year-old actor, originally born in Washington, DC, wore the same hat last season when posting his bracket for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Meloni picked the Capitals to win it all.
