The Caps honored Alex Ovechkin today with yet another golden stick in a pregame ceremony to commemorate his 1,000th career point. To celebrate, the Caps gave out large and mildly terrifying cutouts of Ovi’s head to fans.

On the back of the cutouts was a Snapchat code that fans could scan using the photo-messaging app to unlock a special Ovechkin filter for an hour.

Using the filter is easy enough that even a Snapchat noob like Ian can do it. Open the selfie camera in the app. Press down on your face to prompt the filter to appear. Then transform your average face into one of gr8ness.

The filter featured Ovechkin’s unique toothy grin, his jersey, and the title “Ovech1Kin”.
Even Ted Leonsis got in on the filter fun.

It’s a bit scary, but hey, when you’ve scored 1,000 points and been honored as one of the best NHL players of all time, you deserve a filter of your face.
