The Caps were in Vancouver tonight, and the game started yesterday. The boys dominated the entire night, largely thanks to their 5v5 play, providing the W to end the team’s two-game losing streak.
First came a tip-in from noted net-crasher Marcus Johansson. Second was top-six Tommy’s first of the season. Next came a goal from Denmark’s Jannik Hansen with 6 seconds left in the first period. Johansson then scored his second of the night on the power play after slamming home a TJ Oshie post shot. Bo Horvat tallied late in the second to make it 3-2. Oshie made it 4-2 late in the 3rd off a great feed from Andre Burakovsky. Karl Alzner got an empty netter, 5-2.
Caps beat Canucks 5-2. Everybody can go to sleep now.
- Philipp Grubauer saw his second start of the year and was good making 23 saves on 25 shots. A few of those saves being of the stellar variety. Good to know we have a reliable backup netminder.
- Tom Wilson was promoted to the top six after the loss in Edmonton. He scored a goal tonight. He’s never going to leave the top six now.
- There were about 400 Swedes playing in tonight’s game. Should have played this game in an IKEA.
- Alex Ovechkin‘s 4-game goal scoring streak came to an end after he was robbed by a very gray “goaltender interference” call. Knowing #8, he’ll probably start another tomorrow.
- Marcus Johansson had a two-goal night, and both goals came from about a combined 2 feet from the goal line. Great work from Mojo or Jojo, whichever you prefer.
- This is a fantastic choice for a Halloween costume. Well done.

- I felt like Andre Burakovsky was everywhere tonight. The young Swede has looked ridiculously good to start the year and his pass to TJ Oshie late in the 3rd was a thing of beauty.
- Craig Laughlin “Corsi” reference count on tonight’s broadcast: 3. Well done, Locker.
- Just FYI, the Caps gave the Canucks a beatdown shot attempt wise even though they led for the majority of the game. That’s either the Canucks just being terrible or Barry’s new lines sparking the offense.
- The Caps special teams were much better tonight. I don’t think the slump will last very long.
Joe B suit of the night
The Caps dominated the Canucks. Lets do it again tomorrow night against the Flames. Braden’s in net in another late one.
