Former Capital Troy Brouwer has been named an alternate captain for the Calgary Flames. Mark Giordano will remain the Flames’ captain for his fourth straight season while Sean Monahan will serve as the other alternate.

Last July, the Big Lebrouwski was traded to the Blues in a deal that also sent goaltending prospect Pheonix Copley to St. Louis. The Caps received TJ Oshie in return. Brouwer’s contract expired at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, and he signed with the Flames on the first day of free agency. His new contract with the Flames is for four years, with a $4.5 million cap hit.
Brouwer continues to wear the number 36, as he did in St. Louis. In September, he donned his Flames jersey for a great cause: the Calgary Pride Parade.
Congrats, Troy!
