Earlier today, the Capitals released the promotional schedule for the 2016-17 season which includes the fan giveaways for the season as well as the return of some popular theme nights, like the Heritage Nights. The schedule notes some new promotions too, including the chance for fans to vote for the fan’s choice bobblehead during the November 8 election night game vs the San Jose Sharks.
Capitals 2016-17 Promotional Schedule Announced
ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals announced today the team’s 2016-17 promotional schedule, highlighted by three all-fan giveaways to open the season and several new and returning theme nights.
All fan giveaways include the Capitals schedule magnet presented by GEICO to be distributed at the Capitals home opener vs. the New York Islanders on Oct. 15, followed by Holtby Vezina fan banners on Oct. 18 vs. the Colorado Avalanche, and the return #RockTheRed foam light sticks on Oct. 22 vs. the New York Rangers. Fans will also have the chance to vote at the Nov. 8 Election Night game for the all fan bobblehead presented by Capital One Bank, distributed on March 21 vs. the Calgary Flames.
The Capitals promotional calendar also features the return of the team’s Heritage Nights, including German Heritage Night on Dec. 1 vs. the New York Islanders, Canadian Heritage Night on Jan. 3 vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs, Swedish Heritage Night on March 6 vs. the Dallas Stars and Russian Heritage Night on March 23 vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Calendar also introduces the Caps Holiday Series including Thanksgiving, #CapsHolidayParty, New Year’s Party and St. Patty’s Day. In addition, the team will wear their third jerseys at every home Thursday and Friday game throughout the season.

In addition, the Capitals will invite fans to support the team’s commitment to the community at special nights devoted to Hockey Fights Cancer presented by Leidos on Nov. 5 vs. the Florida Panthers, a #CapsCare Fan Food drive presented by Giant on Nov. 20 vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets, a #CapsCare Toy Drive presented by GEICO on Dec. 23 vs. the Tampa Bay Lightning, Military Appreciation Night on March 2 vs. the New Jersey Devils and Go Green Night presented by WGL on March 14 vs. the Minnesota Wild.
