Capitals will wear third jersey for 13 home games this season

The Washington Capitals announced today that the team will be wearing their third jersey every Thursday and Friday home game during the 2016-17 season. The team will sport blue pants and red helmets along with the jersey.

Hooray for fashion because these jerseys are fantastic.

Capitals to Wear Third Jersey for 13 Home Dates in 2016-17

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will wear their third jersey, modeled after the team’s original red jersey for all Thursday and Friday home games during the 2016-17 season, totaling 13 games, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

The primary color for the uniform is red and closely resembles the team’s jersey worn from 1974-75 through 1994-95. The original Capitals wordmark is featured on the front of the jersey with six stars above it and five stars beneath the numbers on each sleeve. The Capitals will wear blue pants and red helmets with their third jerseys.

The Capitals’ third jerseys are available at Verizon Center and Kettler Capitals Iceplex team stores.
