Two of our favorite famous Caps fans, gold medal swimmer Katie Ledecky and the Washington Nationals’ Bryce Harper have a habit of showing public displays of support for each other.
First, Ledecky got Harper to hold her gold medals while she threw out the first pitch at a Nationals game.

Next, Harper used Ledecky’s swim cap to shelter his perfect locks when the Nationals celebrated clinching the National League East, after beating the Pirates 6-1.

Of course, Ledecky approved of the gesture
Glad the cap is getting some good use @Bharper3407! Congrats Nats! https://t.co/YN0w0LV79P

Thanks to the AP’s Stephen Whyno, we were able to find out a little more about how Harper got that cap for his NL East celebration:

Well, he was so kind during the first pitch how I gave him the medals, he was such a good sport about that. Got some great pictures out of that, so I sent him a thank you note and put a cap in. I told him that maybe it could help him that maybe it could help him contain his hair as he was rounding third base, but he had some other ideas. I’m very honored that he decided to wear it for the celebration.
These two are truly my new favorite DMV athlete BFF pair.
