Ten days ago, Michael Latta officially left the Washington Capitals, signing a one-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings. Not only is Latta getting a full-time roster spot, he’s also getting a brand new number and it’s one that his long-time fans will be familiar with.

Latta will wear number 17 next season – the same number he wore in junior hockey with the Guelph Storm. It’s also the same number Milan Lucic wore for the Kings last season.

Latta got his new gear today and he was excited.

Also excited: Latta’s brother.

My brother is almost as excited as me… Really excited to sign with LA. Can't wait to get the season started.

According to the Kings’ Insider Jon Rosen, these are the previous Kings players to wear the number.

Milan Lucic; Daniel Carcillo; Wayne Simmonds; Lubomir Visnovsky; Tomas Vlasak; Nelson Emerson; Bob Corkum; Matt Johnson; Jari Kurri; Jim Thomson; Brian Wilks; Bob Logan; Jimmy Carson; John Paul Kelly; Tommy Williams; Dan Maloney; Bill Flett; Mike Corrigan; Bill Flett

It also seems like former teammate and liney, Brooks Laich, is trying to take care of Latta in his home away from home.

LAtta? Yeah. This is going to take some getting used to.
