Round 2, Game 2 Live Blog: Caps vs Pens

Photo: Rob Carr

Who is ready for some Game Two action? I may be alone in feeling this, but didn’t Game One feel like it was such a blur? The Caps were able to pull out a 4-3 OT victory on the backs of TJ Oshie and Braden Holtby, after seemingly falling asleep in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Let’s hope for a “60 minute effort” and another big ole W tonight.

The Caps have played the Penguins in 8 playoff series before this one. The Caps have a record of 7-1 in the first game of those series, however the Pens have won 7 out of those 8 series. Statistics show that when you win Game One, you should have around a 68 percent chance at winning the series. Let’s change history and align with statistics, because numbers are cool and fun.

We might have a shakeup in the D-corps tonight. Round Two, Game Two liveblog below.

Pre-Game

So many people in so many shirts.

Chorney in, Orlov out.

Gary Bettman and his prom date.

First Period

Brooks Orpik is still terrible.

Yep.

Nope.

CFTC: We were terrible. Orpik and Williams were standout terrible. Tons of sloppy turnovers, empty shifts and overall badness. Power play zone entries almost gave me an aneurysm and I still hate the NBC crew. 0-0 after 1. Praise Braden.

Second Period

Hagelin makes it 1-0 Pens. We are playing like absolute garbage.

This is an accomplishment for the Caps this period.

No goal call is correct. Penalty call is idiotic.

CFTC: Uhhhh. I don’t have anything. We look like a high school team. 1-0 Pens after 2. Somehow.

Third Period

The great Joe Hanson ties this bad boy up on the PP.

John Carlson lays out Crosby.

Fehr scores. 2-1 Pens.

CFTC: Better 3rd period. Have to win one in Pittsburgh.

Final score: 2-1 Pens
