The Washington Capitals looked stellar in the first period against the Ottawa Senators. Their jerseys looked great and their play looked even better. And thanks to this breakaway goal by Michael Latta, they’ll take a lead into the second period.
The play began with Dmitry Orlov, who eschewed a normal neutral-zone pass and opted instead for a lofty alley-oop to Latta.
One-on-one against Andrew Hammond, Latta showed off the hands that we’ve always suspected he has.
That is just Latta’s third NHL goal. He went scoreless on 24 shots last season. This year, on just 25 shots, he already has two goals. Watch out, TJ Oshie.
Update: Here’s a photo of Latta’s celebration. #LattaFace returns!
