The Capitals have so many skill players, they’re bound to score at least one pretty goal a game. It happened again Friday against the Blue Jackets.
As Braden Holtby chucked a dump in around the boards, the puck turned to flubber and took a fortunate bounce right onto Alex Ovechkin’s stick. The first line then held a passing clinic in the Columbus Blue Jackets offensive zone.
Watch closely, kids. Ovechkin passes to Backstrom. Backstrom taps it to Oshie. Oshie slaps the puck 100 MPH off the crossbar and in, while Sergei Bobrovsky helplessly laid on the ice.
Tick-tac-toe.
The goal would stand up as the game winner.
Oshie told me re: his goal he was 90% sure Backstrom would make that pass

Holtby on Oshie's goal: "T.J. used his elusive blade to bury it."

Backstrom’s explanation of the play is fantastic.
Backstrom on why he passed to Oshie on the rush instead of shooting: "You want me to be honest? It looked nicer."

It’s Oshie’s fourth goal as a Capital and the first since his three game goal streak was snapped last week in Calgary.
