Friday night at 7:05 PM, RMNB’s hometown Frederick Keys will take on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Harry Grove Stadium. And they will be doing so in uniforms that are both ridiculous (think: Cowboy Monkey Rodeo) and awesome beyond words.
Based on the iconic Nickelodeon TV show Rugrats, the Orioles minor leaguers will sport a sky-blue top which has an orange collar. The logo is an illustration of a planet (that resembles Saturn), with the Keys word-mark done in the Rugrats typeface. The Keys call the uniforms Chucky Finster themed.
The back features bright yellow numbers.
To complete the look, the pants are forest green and have a confetti-like light green pattern.
Earlier this week, I reached out to the team and asked them who designed the massively popular jerseys.
“We get the jerseys and pants from Nickelodeon, and we are working hand and hand with them on this night,” Keys’ Public Relations Manager Geoff Arnold told me. “Nickelodeon is doing these ‘off-channel activations’ with different minor league teams and we decided on Rugrats from a number of different shows to pick from.”
It ended up being a wise choice. Two weeks ago when photos of the uniforms first surfaced, the Keys got national attention and valuable exposure. ESPN’s SportsCenter even dedicated a tweet to it which got nearly 10,000 retweets.

The jerseys will be raffled off during the game. More from the team:
Fans will also have a chance to win Rugrats prizes throughout the night and can enjoy some of the show’s most entertaining video clips.
To add to the fun, there will be a host of special on-field games. One fan will be asked to identify the hairstyles of different Rugrats characters during “who in the hair is that.” Additionally, a game of “guess that smell” will require one individual to identify what type of chocolate bar is melted in a diaper. Fans will also want to keep an eye out for the “diaper dog toss” featuring hot dogs wrapped in diapers which will be shot into the stands and a special “minute to win it” pickle eating contest.
Other fun between-inning games include a blankie tug of war, a bottle race, a baby crawl race, a diaper changing contest and a game of “deal or no deal” featuring Rugrats prizes. Fans can also have fun answering Rugrats trivia.
So I’m guessing we’ll be hearing this all night ad nauseam.
Even better, I’ll be there. If any of you plan on attending, please tweet @russianmachine and I’d love to say hello.
If you can’t make it to Frederick, try on going to Bowie who are also having a great promotion tonight.
