Today, the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals completed their battle of the beltway series, with the Nats winning the rubber match 3-2. During the game, the Washington Post’s Scott Allen tweeted a photo of a “Go Caps” sign which I retweeted on the RMNB account. Apparently it was a Caps Fan Club outing today at Camden Yards.
It made me wonder, as a Caps fan which baseball team do you root for? Vote below, let’s test a hypothesis.
I personally think more Caps fans root for the Orioles. They have been in this area since 1954, used to be shown on local TV from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, and have won multiple championships. Not to mention, American hero and greatest human ever Cal Ripken played on the team. The Caps also used to play in Landover, Maryland and had their practice facility based in Odenton (which is kind of near Annapolis).
Meanwhile the Nationals, who arrived back in the area in 2005, have become a perennial winner, boast several popular superstars, and have a higher attendance than the Orioles. Then there’s also the DC roots for DC teams thing.
Where do you fall?
RMNB is not associated with the Washington Capitals; Monumental Sports, the NHL, or its properties. Not even a little bit.
