I often marvel at Alex Ovechkin‘s steely strength. In Ottawa tonight we got another example of his nigh-invulnerability. After checking Erik Karlsson from behind and away from the puck, the Senators defended their fallen captain’s honor.
That was their mistake.
(That fallen captain didn’t miss a shift by the way.)
Here’s the hit.
Now, Bobby Ryan coming in like a wrecking ball, except Ovi knocks him over like a 10-pound sack of flour.
Ryan got up and right back into Ovechkin’s face. That’s when the Russian machine decided this discussion was over by executing a textbook headlock and wrestling takedown.
It totally reminds me of that time when Robin Ventura charged the mound at Nolan Ryan and the Texas hurler went to town on him.
In conclusion: you should never miss with Ovi or this is what happens.
